My name is Al Klieber and I have been involved in racquet sports and racquet service for 50+ years. Originally from Germany, I started playing competitive tennis and table tennis as a young man, and started my first racquet stringing business in 1979.  While travelling, I met my wife Rose (a Canadian from Victoria, BC), and was easily persuaded to make Vancouver Island my new home.  In 1989, I became the Head Tennis Pro at the Victoria Racquet Club and shortly thereafter, together with Rose, and baby daughter Morgan, we opened Courtside Sports in Victoria BC, a racquet specialty retail store. While coaching and running a business with my family, I also spent time playing competitive tennis in many local, provincial and national tournaments. Morgan also developed a love of the sport and in addition to receiving a tennis scholarship at a US college, she also became an MRT-certified stringer and technician at our business. We grew Courtside Sports into a well known and respected business but after 32 years, with our daughter and the beautiful Comox Valley beckoning us, we sold the business and handed over the reigns to two of our employees. We are very excited to be a part of the community here and are enjoying spending our time getting to know the Comox Valley racquet sports community, skiing, hiking and working out at Morgan's gym here in town, Wild and United Athletics.​​​
